Poynteronline kirjoitti Rui'anin kaupungissa Kiinassa syntyneistä mellakoista ja siitä, miten silminnäkijöiden kännyköillä kuvaamat videot antavat uuden, viranomaisille kiusallisen näkökulman tapahtumiin.

Opiskelijat aloittivat mellakan opettajansa löydyttyä kuolleena. Viranomaiset kuittasivat tapahtuneen itsemurhana, mutta naisen tunteneet pitivät tapausta murhana. Kiina ei yrityksistään huolimatta saanut pidettyä mellakkavideoita pois netistä. Ihmisoikeuksien edistäjätahot ja aihetta kommentoineet journalistit pitävät asiaa kansalaismedian voittona.
